Arden Cross forms part of Solihull’s aspirational UK Central growth plans – a strategic vision centred around four economic opportunity zones, designed to maximise Solihull’s role as a driver of the regional economy and capitalising on the proximity to assets such as Birmingham Airport, the National Exhibition Centre and Jaguar Land Rover.

The strategic and economic objectives set by the West Midlands Combined Authority and Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) identify UK Central as a prime inward investment opportunity that will be jointly delivered by the Urban Growth Company (UGC) as the infrastructure delivery vehicle for UK Central, and Arden Cross who will develop the site.

+ HS2

Located at the centre of Arden Cross, the new HS2 Interchange Station will be the first stop outside London on the High Speed line. The HS2 Station and line will be delivered by HS2 Ltd.

+ UK Central

A prime inward investment location encompassing and promoting key assets including;Arden Cross, the NEC, Birmingham Airport, Birmingham International Station, Jaguar Land Rover and Birmingham Business Park. SMBC has established an Urban Growth Company (UGC) to deliver infrastructure to this strategically important economic area. The UGC is recognised and supported by Central Government, West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and GBSLEP.

+ Arden Cross

A sustainable urban quarter of 350 acres surrounding the HS2 Interchange Station. With the potential to deliver 2.65 million sq ft of commercial space, 2,000 new homes, up to 20,000 new jobs, retail and leisure space, Arden Cross maximises the growth opportunity HS2 will bring.

+ The West Midlands Combined Authority

A collection of 12 local authorities and three LEPs with devolved powers from Westminster, of which SMBC and GBSLEP are constituent members. The WMCA is fully supportive of UK Central and of maximising the benefits of HS2.
