Supported by the wider Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP), West Midlands Combined Authority and UK Central Government, UK Central aims to ensure the continued economic prosperity of the West Midlands.
UK Central focusses on the promotion of a strategic geographic area that incorporates key assets – including Arden Cross, the HS2 Interchange Station, The National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham Airport, and Birmingham International Railway Station – and considers how these assets would perform better by improving awareness and connectivity along with planning for sustainable managed growth.
The realisation of the overarching vision for the Hub – the first focal point of the UK Central strategy, and home to Arden Cross – will be supported by the Urban Growth Company (UGC), a special purpose delivery vehicle established to lead and develop major infrastructure investment in the area.
The UGC’s main aim is to unlock the potential of the Hub using a set of place-making principles to deliver a comprehensive UK Central Hub Growth and Infrastructure Plan (HGIP), ensuring the ambitions for the area are fully realised by coordinating investment plans and growth opportunities.
The UKC framework provides a key link in ensuring the development aspirations for Arden Cross are consistent with those of both local and central government.
