Building on the region’s competitive advantage
The Midlands, both east and west, contains more medical technology businesses than any other region. However, a disproportionate number of companies are at an early stage, with 60% less than 10 years old.
With proximity to leading universities, a skilled workforce, established HealthTech clusters, and innovative NHS Trusts, the Midlands is ideally placed to nurture this critical industry.
The heart of an innovation network
The Arden Cross Innovation District will be at the heart of an innovation network which already exists.
Connectivity between major innovation and life sciences hubs will be enhanced by HS2, which will link Birmingham, Arden Cross, Old Oak Common, and Euston. Established northern connections with Manchester and Leeds, and locally to the East Midlands, will complete the network.
